I was looking where to store photos on the web. Because my external hard drive after 3years of using broke down, I decided to store all my photos in the web.
I’m not a photographer, so not so many pictures taken per year.
I had one major criteria for service. The service must allow store pictures in original format, and allow them download later as I saved them in original format. So, no clipping, compressing and etc.
Second – it could show slideshows. It’s very useful, if you want to show them for your friends and family.
Third – unlimited storage.
So now I’m using flickr Pro.
- Flickr Pro – payed, but cheaper than to buy another external hard drive. Stores pictures in original format. Nice slideshows.
- Picassa – limited storage, compressed pictures, no slide show. Good, if you have gmail, so you can use same credentials.
- Microsoft live – that’s a good candidate. Stores pictures uncompressed, slideshow. But limited total space to 25Gb. I whish I found it earlier.
- Facebook – awful. Compressed pictures, no slideshow. Good just to store pictures to show for friends. You can integrate Flickr into Facebook.
